Welcome to the Quantum Tao

What is the Quantum Tao?

The chosen name for a journey of discovery.....

This website is not only about the Tao, nor is only about Quantum Physics. Neither is it only about Dr. C.G. Jung, the founder of Analytical Psychology or Alchemy, although all do feature. No, it's a combination of ideas that, in themselves, are not totally interconnected, but there is an underlying theme, which is of exploration of life and 'the human condition'. (and what basically interests me ;)

The name Quantum Tao was chosen as it combines two terms that represents two ideas that are both modern and ancient. Taoism, as a philosophical idea, dates back to ancient China, but the ideas inherent in Taoism are as relevant now as they were when Lao Tzu first described them. Quantum mechanics seems a very modern idea, but this modern theory actually echoes certain ideas first proposed by the ancient Greeks, who first theorised that matter was really just a form of energy and that both were in fact the same. However Quantum Mechanics really gained momentum, as an idea, at the turn of the last century and has, since its modern (re)inception, thrown into doubt everything that we 'thought' we knew about what reality really is....

This website also contains various ramblings, thought excersises and ideas related to topics such as the psychological effects of sound, Alchemy from the point of view of Analytical psychology and the quest for wholeness. And basically anything else that comes to me as I sit typing away in the early hours of the morning, or mid afternoon taking a break from work, or sipping a cup of coffee or.... you know the sort of thing!

And, although I try to keep things light hearted I’m very serious about my work and my dedication to the topics discussed, so if you find anything interesting, or just fancy a chat, do drop me an email, otherwise please feel free to read on

So it may look a little 'odd'

in places!

"A careful analysis of the process of observation in atomic physics has shown that the subatomic particles have no meaning as isolated entities, but can only be understood as interconnections between the preparation of an experiment and the subsequent measurement. Quantum theory thus reveals a basic oneness of the universe. It shows that we cannot decompose the world into independently existing smallest units. As we penetrate into matter, nature does not show us any isolated ‘basic building blocks’, but rather appears as a complicated web of relations between the various parts of the whole."

The image above is taken from Aurora Consurgens, which was attributed to Thomas Aquinas. Marie-Louise von Franz’s analysis of A.C. demonstrated the accuracy of Jung’s assertion that Alchemy is in fact analogues to analytical psychology, in that they are both a quest for the unity of the totality of Self.
